PACES congratulates seven scholars who successfully completed their Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) under the Don Bosco One TVET Philippines in Makati, Metro-Manila.  The 15-month long TVET scholarships sponsored by PACES was announced on the PACES website on September 2024 These scholarships covered school fees, dormitory housing for the out-of-town trainees, and living allowances for the trainees.

Their graduation and subsequent employment was announced at a face-to-face meeting in Quezon City in the Philippines between PACES President Dr. Jane Gerardo-Abaya and CFC ANCOP President Leo Labrador. The meeting, which was held in February this year was also attended by representatives of PACES and ANCOP, as well as by the current PACES STEM scholars and their parents.

The seven TVET trainees who graduated under the sponsorship of PACES are: 

  • Jeric A. Apolinario, Electro Mechanical Technology
  • Menald D. Bables, Refrigeration and Air conditioning
  • Ruslan A. Briones, Automotive Mechanic
  • Joedel P. Dela Torre, Refrigeration and Air conditioning
  • Nelson P. Galigao, Electro Mechanical Technology
  • Kimberly I. Gonzales, Refrigeration and Air conditioning
  • Faith Quenzel B. Babiera, Fitter Machinist

The TVET training consists of classes and hands-on skills training at the Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati, culminating in 3 months of On-The-Job training (OJT) at several partner companies in Metro-Manila. Five of the trainees subsequently obtained full-time jobs at their respective OJT companies. Two of them elected to return to Culion, Palawan, where one is currently employed. 

This TVET batch was a partnership among PACES, CFC ANCOP and Don Bosco One TVET Philippines aimed at productivity enhancement and poverty reduction in the Philippines through education and training. Specifically, the Don Bosco TVET mission statement aims to develop and train students who are highly qualified and globally competitive, and to provide quality technical education to the poor and the underprivileged youth for gainful employment.
