On May 16, 2025, the Philippine-Austrian Cultural and Educational Society (PACES) commemorated its 9th anniversary with a thanksgiving mass at the historic Franziskanerkirche (Franciscan Church) in Vienna’s 1st district. The solemn ceremony brought together PACES officers, members, and supporters to reflect on nearly a decade of fostering educational opportunities for Filipino youth.
Following the mass, attendees gathered for an informal lunch at a nearby restaurant, celebrating the organization’s milestones and the strong community bonds it has cultivated.
Established in May 2016, PACES is a Vienna-based non-profit dedicated to empowering financially challenged but academically deserving Filipino students through scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The organization has successfully supported eight scholars who have completed their degrees in fields such as Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Technology, with several obtaining professional certifications.
In addition to university scholarships, PACES has expanded its support to include Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs. Through partnerships with institutions like Don Bosco One TVET Philippines, the organization has provided opportunities for students to pursue courses in Electro-Mechanical Technology, Automotive Mechanics, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
As PACES marks its ninth year, the organization remains committed to its mission of supporting Filipino youth through education and fostering cultural ties between the Philippines and Austria.
