On 15 November 2025, PACES successfully hosted a benefit concert at the Kattus Sektkellerei in Vienna’s 19th district, bringing together young Filipino musicians and supporters for an unforgettable evening of culture and music. The concert, entitled “A Symphony of Hope” aimed to raise support for PACES’ scholarship programs for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) students in the Philippines. The concert drew an enthusiastic audience who gathered to enjoy a rich program spanning classical masterpieces to contemporary and Filipino favorites.
“Will you help lift a young person out of poverty? That question from one of our scholarship applicants reminds us why we are here—to bring hope through education and help break the cycle of poverty,” said Dr. Jane Gerardo-Abaya, President of PACES in her welcome address.
This was followed by H.E. Evangelina Lourdes Arroyo-Bernas, Philippine Ambassador to Austria, who doubled on the importance of cultural exchange in strengthening community ties and advancing educational opportunities.
“We see so many young Filipinos with extraordinary potential, yet we can only award scholarships to a few. It’s a painful reality. That’s why we turn to your support and empower PACES to open more doors and change more lives.” she remarked.
Guests were treated to standout performances by five distinguished Filipino-Austrian talents: cellist Damodar Das Castillo, prodigy brothers Joffrey and Mark Tullao, violinist Philipp Goldnagl, and soprano Maria Isabel Zavala.
Their performances ranging from Beethoven and Paganini to Filipino kundiman classics such as Damdamin and Gaano Ko Ikaw Kamahal enthralled the audience with their artistic excellence of the Filipino diaspora. Contemporary pieces spanned K-pop hits, anime soundtracks, and modern Filipino hits like Cup of Joe’s Multo.
“This evening would not have been possible without the support of our donors, partners, and guests,” Dr. Gerardo-Abaya stated. “Our members and friends prepared for this event like a family: together, lovingly, and meticulously,” she noted.
Supporters also joined a lively tombola featuring exciting prizes, including an EVA Air Premium Economy Ticket generously provided by EVA Air. The event was made possible through the sponsorship of EVA Air and Dr.Allichhammer & Co.
PACES has now financially supported eleven university scholars to graduation across diverse STEM disciplines, providing tuition, school fees, a monthly living allowance, and support for textbooks and school supplies.
